COMMON DIAMOND SHAPES
Round Brilliant diamonds are the most
popular shape of diamond. The round brilliant variety has 58 facets.
Emerald-cut diamonds are "step" cut, but
with the four corners mitred. This is done
largely to protect the stone, as any sharp
points are vulnerable to getting chipped.

Marquise shaped diamonds are like a long
oval which has been stretched out to a
point at each end.
Baguette-cut diamonds are either square,
rectangular or trapezoidal in shape and
with facets parallel to the top of the stone.

Princess-cut diamonds are oblong shape,
usually square or almost square, with a
modified brilliant cut of facets.
