After being one of the first jewellers to sell diamonds online over 10 years ago we felt a new look site was long over due.

Van Peterson Atelier is a new luxury men’s waistcoat line, the latest venture from Jewellery Designer Eric Van Peterson and Fashion Designer Elizabeth Gaffney.

The story started a year ago when Eric, frustrated with the lack of interesting waistcoats available on the luxury market, phoned Elizabeth, who had worked in his Knightsbridge boutique while studying Fashion at Ravensbourne and presented his complaint and his vision for a range to fill this gap. Eric has always loved waistcoats for the way they smarten up a casual look or retain a smart look once a tailored jacket is removed. However, everything available seemed to be either too formal or too wacky with a plain of monochromatic monotony in between. Eric envisioned a waistcoat, which would retain its sophistication in luxurious fabrics and construction while incorporating quirky details such as contrast topstitching and printed backs.

Both Designers have an unwavering eye for detail, a shared perspective on refined taste and a hunger for the new, the interesting and the different while maintaining a sense of realism. Indeed, some waistcoats are designed very much as dinner-table conversation pieces while others lie within a more conservative realm. Deriving inspiration from a plethora of subjects from nostalgic sea-faring to rock-n-roll, the underlying thread is that each waistcoat is a limited edition, composed from only the finest suiting wools, cashmeres, linens and silks.

In a world awash with mass-produced throwaway clothing and uniform menswear a waistcoat from Van Peterson Atelier will bring a unique story to any man’s wardrobe. Eric Van Peterson designs an exclusive leather and silver bracelet for Shutterbox Theatre, as seen modelled by Emma Thompson; the shows executive producer. The sale of the bracelets raised money to support their production of Fair Trade which raises awareness of the sex trade industry which touring in July 2010.
