Eric Van Peterson was born in Columbus, Ohio. He first came to the UK as a law student. During his college years he found that his passion for art and design grew as he backpacked his way across Europe.
Eric met his wife lin in the original Hard Rock Café and in the late 1970′s they started out selling vintage clothes and “objets d’art”in Camden Lock Market, alongside the likes of Annie Lennox and Anita Roddick, creator of the Body Shop.
Success inspired them to open their first stand alone store, an antique shop near Sloane Square, where they specialised in selling Art Deco and Art Nouveau ceramics and jewellery.
In 1981 they opened the Walton Street store, where Eric and lin started adding their own jewellery designs to the antique pieces on sale.
Immediate success inspired them to concentrate on elaborating their own pieces, which now form their entire collection.
Taking inspiration from their extensive travels, their eclectic designs are easily distinguishable. Their pieces strike a balance between ethnic and modern, making them a favourite among fashion stylists, as well as celebrities including Charlize Theron, model Poppy Delevigne, Charlie Watts of The Rolling Stones, Annie Lennox, David Bowie, Ringo Starr and the late Princess of Wales.
Van Peterson designs are often featured in the pages of Elle, Harpers, Tatler and Vogue as well as the fashion pages of major news papers.
